Your Opportunity:

Alberta Health Services is currently looking to add a Clinical Informatics Lead (CIL) to be shared between two Connect Care Clinical Operations teams known as Patient Access and Laboratory. Connect Care is a transformative provincial health care program that has integrated over 1300 independent systems across Alberta into one platform that enhances patient quality care as we know it. The CIL will focus on leading change management, implementation and optimization of the Connect Care Patient Access and Laboratory workflows. These include the workflows related to registration, ambulatory scheduling, referrals, wait time measurement and management as well as laboratory specimen collection and reporting. Reporting to the Patient Access CORe Lead, the CIL will provide ongoing leadership and optimization between individuals, departments, sites and programs for the design, delivery, implementation, and optimization of Connect Care. There is flexibility as to the location of this position within the Province of Alberta and candidates from across the province are encouraged to apply. At the time of appointment, the successful candidate may discuss location options with the hiring manager. Provincial travel is required.

Description:

The CIL will lead complex initiatives within CC’s Clinical Operations. The CIL will need advanced experience and exceptional knowledge of CC’s Patient Access workflows supporting patient registration (Prelude), ambulatory scheduling (Cadence), referral management (Referrals) and wait time measurement and management (Springboard). Advanced Lab experience consisting of a min of 2yr in a leadership role in Lab and knowledge of current Epic Lab workflows is needed. The CIL will be responsible for leading change management specific to the PA workflows. This role requires superlative clinical informatics knowledge and experience, strong leadership, and exceptional communication skills. It is critical to deal with and resolve politically sensitive issues, which could result in high impact to AHS. The CIL may take a coordinating role in recruiting CI clinicians (including physicians, nurses, lab techs, pathologists, clinical biochemists, microbiologists and allied health professionals) to participate on working groups. Experience leading meetings, facilitating working groups, presentation skills and the ability to work independently in a virtual environment while keeping to timelines, managing competing priorities, and escalating issues when appropriate are key attributes. The CIL is responsible for managing clinical informatics functions including assessing high-impact reports and measures and working with the clerical, operational and clinical communities to encourage CC’s use for improved clinical outcomes. CC’s requirements span the organization, as well as several external stakeholders, including academic institutions, physician and other clinician groups, associations such as the Alberta Medical Association, College and Association of Registered Nurses of Alberta, etc.
