Your Opportunity:

EHS-Alberta is seeking Clinical Educators (CEs) to join our Learning & Development (L&D) team within the Clinical Excellence portfolio. Reporting to a provincial Manager, CEs influence culture and practice by supporting paramedics through education, mentorship, and simulation. Working across diverse rural and regional settings, you will travel to service areas including Peace River, Slave Lake, Rainbow Lake, La Crete, and High Level—making a meaningful impact on staff development across the North Zone. CEs design, deliver, and evaluate curriculum using adult learning principles, simulation technology, and blended or online methods. You facilitate classroom sessions and guide learners through standardized courses such as ACLS, PALS, NRP, CPR, annual training days, and Return-to-Work orientation. Success relies on your ability to keep content consistent, engaging, and relevant for each group. Beyond structured courses, you will develop custom learning plans, provide one-on-one and group coaching, and evaluate outcomes linking training effectiveness to patient care, system performance, and quality improvement. You demonstrate leadership by mentoring peers, setting professional standards, and building a positive learning culture. CEs maintain ACP competence, including active ground ambulance shifts, serving as role models for evidence-based clinical practice and patient safety. You also contribute to research and innovation, share expertise through presentations or publication, and manage multiple priorities with strong organizational skills, adaptability, and effective use of technology including simulation systems, learning management platforms, and A/V tools. Collaboration is essential—you will work closely with EHS Operations and healthcare and community partners to identify learning needs and create practical solutions.

Description:

As an EMS Clinical Educator, you will identify, develop, implement and deliver various training programs and initiatives, monitor the transfer of learning into actual practice, support the competency assessment process of EMS practitioners, and provide learning and development support to EMS personnel on an ongoing basis. Facilitation modalities include lecture, e-learning, simulation and real-time situation specific coaching and mentoring. Alberta Health Services EMS requires the proof of the successful completion of the Functional Abilities Recruitment Evaluation (F.A.R.E.) test via the certificate provided by the Lifemark organization for all applicants external to AHS or internal to AHS, who do not already hold a clinical position within AHS EMS (VESST, Clinical Educator, EMR, PCP, ACP and Community Paramedic). Your F.A.R.E. test must be completed six (6) prior to the date of your application. Alberta Health Services EMS may verify results with Lifemark to ensure the candidate has successfully completed the test. Please contact Lifemark at www.lifemark.ca/alberta-health-services to find more information on the F.A.R.E. test and how to book your evaluation.
