Completion of bachelor's degree in Child Life, Education, Psychology or other related field.
Additional Required Qualifications:ACLP (Association of Child Life Professionals) Child Life certification required. Minimum 3-5 years of experience working as a Child Life Specialist in a pediatric health care setting. Clinical experience working with children and youth with chronic illness. Demonstrated skills in non-pharmacological pain management techniques used to assist children and youth required. Demonstrated experience with procedural preparation and supporting children/youth through painful procedures. Demonstrated experience prioritizing referrals from multiple clinical areas. Experience planning and facilitating therapeutic group programs. Volunteer training and supervision experience required. Demonstrated ability to teach and deliver education material to families in an engaging and meaningful way. Demonstrated ability to function independently and within a multidisciplinary team environment. Demonstrated understanding of a Family Centered Care service delivery model.
Preferred Qualifications:Medical Hypnosis training preferred, demonstrating ability to apply techniques of medical hypnosis with children/youth in a variety of clinical settings within the hospital. Motivational Interviewing training preferred. Grief and bereavement experience. Connect care trained.
