Your Opportunity:
Emergency Health Services (EHS) is recruiting for the Chief, Transformation, Partnerships, and Assets. Reporting to the Managing Director, you lead the development of organization-wide strategic and operating plans, including budget and resource needs. In this key leadership position, you ensure the overall efficacy of EHS through the maintenance of good working relationships with the provincial government. Accountable for ~247 FTE, you provide vision, executive leadership, and management to the delivery of accessible, sustainable and integrated support services. You will lead the strategic planning and development of contracts, ensuring alignment with provincial regulations, standards, and organizational goals. You possess excellent communication skills that enable you to build positive relationships with local, provincial, and national representatives and stakeholders, including government departments and officials. This position’s location is negotiable within Alberta and may be eligible for a remote/hybrid work arrangement. Emergency Health Services (EHS) – Alberta manages all aspects of the emergency health services system in the province. Every year, almost 5000 EHS-Alberta professionals support over 750,000 emergency and transfer calls, both on the ground and in the air. From the emergency communications officers who answer the phone and assess calls, to the front-line paramedics who respond to help, EHS-Alberta works together to make sure Albertans get the right care, in the right place, at the right time.
Description:
The Chief, Transformation, Partnerships, and Assets is responsible for strategic planning and operational support services for Emergency Health Services (EHS). This position ensures transformation and operational support services are effectively aligned with the strategic direction of EHS, Acute Care Alberta, and Ministry of Hospital and Surgical Health Services policy direction. The role provides strategic recommendations and direction to the Managing Director and other executive leaders on organization and support services planning, risk and compliance, and performance. It ensures contracting practices align with provincial frameworks and support transparent outcomes-driven contract management, while establishing and maintaining sourcing channels and opportunities. The role is responsible for developing strategic and operating plans, while ensuring budget and other resources align with plans. The role establishes and maintains positive relationships with local and provincial representatives and stakeholders, including government departments and officials, to provide organizational leadership and oversight to support services. The role is further accountable for support services performance and manages capacity and resources.

The successful candidate possesses a Master’s degree in public safety, healthcare profession, healthcare management or business administration. Minimum of ten years’ senior management experience in emergency medical services, public safety or healthcare operations. Experience in managing operational support functions such as fleet, facilities, contract management, asset or financial management. A combination of education and experience may be considered.
Additional Required Qualifications:
The successful candidate possesses demonstrated leadership abilities, including comfort with decision-making and exercising sound judgement, as well as an ability to develop organization strategy and planning. Additionally, the individual possesses a demonstrated ability to lead strategic initiatives and manage change to achieve positive results. This position requires an ability to influence, negotiate, and mediate resolutions to complex situations, and effective interpersonal and public relations skills to communicate effectively with a wide variety of audiences, and foster partnerships to achieve organizational goals. You demonstrate a track record of modelling and encouraging innovation and creativity as well as a proven record of engaging in ethical conduct.
Preferred Qualifications:
Certified Paramedic or previous paramedic experience is preferred. Certification in Change Management (e.g. PROSCI) is preferred.
