The Certified Threat Assessor Specialist will plan and conduct investigations, compile information, build reports and communicate risk regarding individuals or entities which pose a threat of physical violence or psychological harm to Alberta Health Services staff, infrastructure or business interests. The Certified Threat Assessor Specialist, using Threat Assessment and Management (TAM) principles, commensurate with their certification, will identify the existence and level of a threat, and make threat management recommendations to investigators, management and leadership, to assist with personal and organizational safety planning and mitigation. They will strive to identity and use the evaluative devices used by authorities in the TAM field. Duties also include providing expertise to the Courts as required, liaising with police and Government, and supporting investigative efforts within the organization. The Certified Threat Assessor Specialist writes detailed assessments and willingly participates in ongoing education about the field of threat assessment, violence and destructive behavior by people in and around the health care environment.
Additional Required Qualifications:
Demonstrated experience in the use of structured professional assessment devices including but not limited to: HCR-20, SAM, RSVP, SAVRY, MLG Group Based Violence, ODARA, SARA, and Multiple Risk Triage. Demonstrated experience in the TAM field. Demonstrated criminal investigative experience where duties were specifically dedicated to the investigation of violent crimes. These include but are not limited to intimate partner violence, sexual assault, homicide, criminal harassment, threats and assaults. Demonstrated case management skills which include the prioritization of multiple files with changing dynamics, to ensure the appropriate case management priorities and timelines were met. Demonstrated ability to analyze and interpret Provincial and Federal legislation, including but not limited to the Criminal Code of Canada and the Freedom of Information and Privacy Act. Demonstrated ability to utilize the internet and social media platforms to garner information for related investigations. Demonstrated ability to utilize contemporary technologies and software to produce written reports, documents and presentations. Demonstrated ability to liaise with other agencies, mental health professionals and policing partners. Demonstrated experience working in environments which deal with people in mental health crises. Demonstrated ability to perform under stressful conditions.
Preferred Qualifications:
Master’s degree in a related field
