Certified Medical Device Reprocessing Technician
Your Opportunity:
The Surgical Processor at the Colon Cancer Screening Centre (CCSC) must be able to work in a fast-paced environment with rapid patient turnover. This position is responsible for performing the specialized reprocessing of procedural equipment utilizing both manual and automated processes. The Surgical Processor performs testing and basic maintenance of the equipment and its functionality. The successful candidate will support maintaining supplies at CCSC through ordering, distribution and stocking as needed. The Surgical Processor is responsible for maintaining the equipment storage cupboards and assuring that all technical equipment is appropriately stored. Daily duties may vary depending on the needs of the department.
Description:
As a Surgical Processor, you will be responsible for the decontamination, reassembly and sterilization of hospital supplies, equipment and surgical instrumentation. You will use the principles of aseptic technique and follow Universal Precautions in the prevention of Hospital Acquired Infections (HAI). You will ensure instrumentation and equipment is in proper working order, perform biological, chemical and quality assurance testing and report problems to the supervisor or designate.

Completion of an accredited Medical Device Reprocessing (MDR) program. Completion of an Healthcare Sterile Processing Association (HSPA) certification or Canadian Standards Association (CSA) certification.
Additional Required Qualifications:At least 1 year experience with reprocessing Endoscope. Excellent verbal communication skills working with a multi-disciplinary team. Ability to work in an enclosed area that requires the ability to stand for long periods at a time. The position requires frequent walking, bending, lifting and constant repetitive motions. Carrying weights of up to 20 lbs for small periods at a time is an expectation of this position. The position requires the frequent handling of chemicals and biohazard materials which will require the use of protective gear including mask, protective eyewear, gloves and clothing when working with these materials.
Preferred Qualifications:1-2 years Surgical Processor experience an asset.
