Barrhead, AB is located in central Alberta approximately 120 km northwest of Edmonton is known for its rich history, vibrant community and scenic landscapes. Barrhead is nestled along the Paddle River and has a population of approximately 4300 residents. Barrhead and surrounding area offers a variety of outdoor activities, including hiking, biking, and horseback riding. Alberta Health Services is looking for a vibrant individual to step into the role of Care Manager at Barrhead Continuing Care Centre. Reporting to the Area Manager, Seniors Health, you will be in a crucial role supporting patient care. As the Care Manager, you will be the backbone to our facility, leading and managing a dedicated team of individuals. Your contribution will be instrumental in fostering an integrated and holistic approach to patient care, making a positive impact on the lives of the residents and their families. We are seeking a dynamic, outgoing, and professional individual who excels in communication, is adept at working with both professional and unregulated staff in a fast-paced environment. Your role will include developing and maintaining an effective framework for the operations and services we provide and ensure the delivery of efficient, effective, and safe care to our residents. Description:

As the Integrated Care Manager - Long Term Care, you will be responsible for providing leadership to an interdisciplinary team of healthcare professionals dedicated to providing leading care to Albertans. Your leadership, direction and organization in Barrhead Continuing Care Centre will be in support of the vision, mission and business plan of AHS. As the Integrated Care Manager, you will be making key decisions and establishing and contributing to the achievements and goals of the Seniors Health portfolio. As the Manager, you will be responsible for developing and maintaining strong working relationships with key stakeholders, facilitating change management, promoting team development, teamwork and coordinating staffing and clinical work as identified by the Area Manager. You will be responsible for developing and maintaining an effective framework for the operations of patient care services in order to facilitate the delivery of efficient, effective and safe patient care. You will be implementing and monitoring your portfolio's budget while undertaking risk management, quality assurance and utilization of information in this field. As the successful candidate, you will have experience successfully communicating with different stakeholders and demonstrate a client-centered approach. We are also looking for someone who has the ability to develop creative approaches to client and resident care and who demonstrates sound critical thinking and ethical decision making.

Required Qualifications:

Completion of an accredited nursing education program with preference towards bachelor’s degree in nursing. 3 – 5 years in a health care provider role and a minimum of one year working in a leadership capacity. Active registration with Licensing Body. Experience in Home Care and/or Long Term Care.

Effective communication skills, strong organizational skills, client focus, and commitment to quality services. Effective leadership abilities combined with a strong commitment to operating within the team environment and the ability to motivate and inspire other to achieve common goals. Leadership skills, including demonstrated ability and comfort with decision making responsibilities, coaching and teaching and the ability to inspire and build confidence in others. Demonstrated ability to foster partnerships and to achieve organizational goals within an organization and ideally managing within a unionized sector. Demonstrated ability to plan, organize and manage short term and long term plans and projects and deliver customer focused results.


Preferred Qualifications:

A demonstrated clear pattern of professional and personal development. Diploma in Nursing with three (3) years recent experience in Home Care or Long Term Care may be considered. To ensure your skills and qualifications are considered, please attach a resume and cover letter with your application.
