Your Opportunity:

As the Cardiology Technologist I for the ACH Cardiology Clinic, you are a member of the Cardiology multi-disciplinary team and play an integral role in diagnostic testing within the Cardiology Department. You will be responsible for performing non-invasive cardiac testing for the Neonatal and Pediatric population in both inpatient and outpatient departments at the Alberta Children's Hospital. The Cardiology Technologist I is a pivotal member of the health care team, and you will have the opportunity to utilize your excellent clinical, communication, and teamwork skills to support optimal outcomes for your patient population. You will be expected to contribute to clinic process improvement and maintain professional practice including, but not limited to, ongoing professional development, encouragement of a positive and supportive work environment, and demonstration of accountability. In addition, you will demonstrate proficiency in the following areas: Ability to be self-directed and exercise independent decision making and critical thinking skills. Ability to work under pressure, manage competing priorities, and effectively resolve conflict. Ability to interact collaboratively and positively with staff, physicians, and the entire health care team to optimize the delivery of safe quality patient care. Ability to advocate effectively for patients and integrate patient and family centered care principles within your own practice.

Description:

As a Cardiology Technologist I, you will prepare the patients (clients, residents) for non-invasive cardiac testing to investigate cardiac abnormalities and level of function, including Holter Monitoring, Exercise Tolerance Testing and Ambulatory Monitoring. You will explain procedures and educate patients on equipment function as required as well as collect client history for procedures and document information for physicians. You will analyze and summarize test results, and generate reports for physician interpretation. You will provide expertise in the set-up, calibration, maintenance and troubleshooting of equipment and will be required to implement resuscitation measures when necessary. You will precept, orient new staff and students and provide input into the evaluation of cardiology trainees and/or students. You will also serve as a clinical resource by providing information regarding cardiology technology to staff and patients.

Required Qualifications:

Completion of certificate from an accredited school of Cardiology Technology. Active or eligible registration with the Alberta Society of Registered Cardiology Technologist (ASRCT). Active or eligible registration with the Canadian Society of Cardiology Technologists Cardiology Technology (CSCT). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Healthcare Provider (BCLS-HCP).

Additional Required Qualifications:

1 year (2000 hours) of clinical experience as a Cardiology Technologist, including Holter monitoring, exercise stress testing and electrocardiography.

Preferred Qualifications:

Neonatal and pediatric experience.
