The Assistant Healthcare Manager (AHM) at the Calgary Remand Centre (CRC) plays a critical role in overseeing healthcare operations, ensuring the delivery of high-quality care to incarcerated individuals. As a key leadership figure, the AHM reports to the Recovery Alberta Correctional Healthcare Manager and is responsible for a range of duties, including: Leadership: Directing the healthcare team and ensuring that the team aligns with the vision, mission, values, and business plan of Recovery Alberta. Relationship and Change Management: Collaborating with the Correctional Services Division and community healthcare resources to maintain effective working relationships and drive positive change. Resource Management: Overseeing human and material resources to ensure efficient healthcare operations, including managing staffing levels and equipment. Risk Management: Identifying and mitigating risks related to healthcare delivery, ensuring safety and compliance with regulations. Strategic Planning: Contributing to the development and implementation of strategic plans that improve healthcare delivery and align with broader organizational goals. Operational Oversight: Managing day-to-day healthcare operations, ensuring healthcare services are available 24 hours a day, seven days a week, and maintaining high standards of care. The AHM’s role requires excellent decision-making skills, often under pressure, and the ability to navigate complex situations in a correctional setting while maintaining a focus on quality care and operational efficiency.

Baccalaureate Degree in Healthcare. Minimum two (2) years recent clinical experience in a management/supervisory role. Working knowledge of the healthcare system. Superior communication and conflict management skills.
Additional Required Qualifications:As required.
Preferred Qualifications:Master’s degree. Experience in Corrections. A strong clinical background in care of marginalized populations. Experience in managing within the Corrections field. A strong understanding of mental health and addictions is preferred. Knowledge of Correctional Services Division (CSD).
