Edmonton Zone Continuing Care provides services through five main program areas: Home Living, Supportive Living, Facility Living, Transition Services and Palliative Care. We are looking for Assistant Head Nurse – Team Lead to join our Home Living team to provide professional support services in the homes of clients of all ages and stages of life. This position provides clinical leadership within the operational framework of Continuing Care. The Team Lead assists with consultation and coordination of daily operations to the Edmonton Zone Continue Care program, providing mentorship and support to the nursing staff. This position leads the team in day-to-day operations, evidence-based practice, quality client care, liaising with other stakeholders, triaging client care, and coordinating outcome-based practice.
Description:
As an Assistant Head Nurse, you will be responsible for staff assignments, patient flow and acting as a role model, clinical resource and advocate for nursing staff. In addition to providing frontline nursing care, as required, you will take a leadership role in the promotion of quality patient care and the implementation of operational priorities. Your in-depth knowledge and skills, advanced judgment and clinical experience, will assist in providing solutions for complex health care issues at all levels with patients, interprofessional teams, administrators and policy makers. You will play a key role in providing safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of AHS.

Completion of an accredited nursing education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP).
Additional Required Qualifications:Baccalaureate Degree in Nursing 5-7 years of experience and knowledge of Continuing Care program required. Excellent organizational skills – to be able to prioritize and efficiently organize many details in a timely manner. Familiarity with Connect Care and case management principles Communication and assessment skills to work cooperatively and effectively with the healthcare team members, clients, and their families in a fast-paced environment, identifying needs via tele triage, and resolving conflicts. Ability to identify and manage risk and to mitigate and diffuse those situations. At the time of interview, you may be required to demonstrate your computer knowledge and proficiency by completing a hands-on assessment. You must demonstrate sufficient typing speed to meet workload demand and navigate through various computer programs including Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint), Visio, Outlook and Internet.
Preferred Qualifications:Demonstrated leadership and/or management experience. Must be able to work independently and within a team environment. Must be able to cope with high levels of stress, fluctuating priorities, and time sensitive deadlines. Experience with introducing new initiatives and working on change management.
