The Clinical Resource Nurse (CRN) is a key support role for front-line clinicians in developing clinical and leadership competency across Acute Care, Emergency and Obstetrics areas at the Drumheller Health Centre. Under the direction of the Acute Care Manager, the CRN works in concert with the Clinical Nurse Educators (CNE) and/or charge nurse to support staff in developing proficiency in all facets of rural nursing, thereby optimizing team function. Your in-depth knowledge and skills, advanced judgement and clinical experience, will assist in providing solutions for complex health care issues at all levels with patients, interprofessional teams, administrators and policy makers.

As an Assistant Head Nurse, you will be responsible for staff assignments, patient flow and acting as a role model, clinical resource and advocate for nursing staff. In addition to providing frontline nursing care, as required, you will take a leadership role in the promotion of quality patient care and the implementation of operational priorities. Your in-depth knowledge and skills, advanced judgment and clinical experience, will assist in providing solutions for complex health care issues at all levels with patients, interprofessional teams, administrators and policy makers. You will play a key role in providing safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of AHS.

Completion of an accredited nursing education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP). Additional Required Qualifications:A minimum of 3 years' experience in Acute Care and Obstetrics. Current obstetrics experience is required. Current experience is defined as working in an Obstetrics program within the past 2 years. The ability to work independently and in a team based, fast paced environment in required. The incumbent must possess excellent leadership and decision-making ability and be able to exercise sound judgement and use intuition. Excellent interpersonal skills and public relations skills are required. Excellent communication skills, oral and written, are required. Excellent organizational and coordination skills are required. Responsible to maintain active registration with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA) throughout the duration of employment.
Preferred Qualifications:Advanced degree is an asset. Experience in preceptorship, mentorship, or instruction of nurses is an asset. Previous obstetrics experience in Central Zone is an asset. Completion of Central Zone Obstetrics Orientation Program is an asset. Previous experience working in a Central Zone Rural Hospital is an asset.
