Completion of an accredited nursing education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP). Additional Required Qualifications:Minimum of 3 years in the last 5 of experience working within an Acute Addiction and Mental Health role. Working knowledge of relevant legislation is required, including the Alberta Mental Health Act and Health Information Act. Demonstrated knowledge of mental health diagnosis, symptomology, and related treatment interventions. Working knowledge of psychotropic medications and psychopathology. Demonstrated experience in a leadership role (e.g. Charge Nurse, Nurse Educator, Professional Practice Lead, etc.). Valid certification in Nonviolent Crisis Intervention (NVCI) training. Demonstrated working knowledge and understanding of the Mental Health system. Demonstrated skills in coaching and mentoring peers.
Preferred Qualifications:A demonstrated ability to manage a wide variety of clinical situations with varying levels of acuity and a heterogeneous patient population. Demonstrated excellent interpersonal and communication skills to effectively work within a multi-disciplinary team of health professionals. Ability to be self-directed and exercise independent decision-making skills, problem solving, nursing judgment and critical thinking skills.
