This Advisor position will play a key role in the strategic financial management of retirement and group benefit plans through the Employee Benefits & Retirement Programs, Centre of Expertise (EBRP COE). The EBRP COE provides administration services to the Health Benefit Trust of Alberta (HBTA), a large Employee Life and Health Trust, providing group benefit coverage to over 40 employers in the health care industry in Alberta. As a member of this high functioning, strategic group benefits and retirement savings programs team, this Advisor position is responsible for providing expert skills and advice on financial services, data analytics, and group benefit plan management to the HBTA, and Health Shared Services. This Advisor position will work collaboratively with the EBRP COE team on projects, review & assess complex program concerns, and devise & implement solutions, and other supports as required to contribute to the overall effective management of these programs. Description:
As an Advisor, on the EBRP team you will support aspects of the financial reporting and audit processes for the HBTA. This includes, but is not limited to, accounts receivable/payable, performing detailed validations and reconciliations of invoice statements, bank accounts, budget information, and calculated group benefit rates ensuring information is reliable, complete, and accurate. In addition, this position contributes to annual group benefit renewal by supporting the determination of loss ratios, trend factors, and calculations of aggregate and individual renewal rates for each benefit, and support formal presentations to internal and external partners. As a key member of the EBRP team, you will build strong relationships with diverse internal and external partners, collaborating to identify efficiencies and enhance client experience.

Degree or diploma in a related area – Business, Finance, Group Benefits, or Trust Management. Minimum 3 years’ experience in a similar role in a complex environment. Previous Financial Analyst experience. Proven ability to develop and maintain strong working relationships and work collaboratively in a team environment and meet organizational requirements under tight deadlines. Proficiency with computer programs, including Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, and SharePoint). Demonstrates independent, critical thinking, strong interpersonal and communication skills. Ability to work with others to achieve common goals and objectives.

Preferred Qualifications:
Holds or working towards Certified Employee Benefit Specialist (CEBS) designation and/or Chartered Professional Accountants (CPA) designation. Understanding of employee group benefit and retirement programs.
