We are looking for a permanent part-time Drug Access Coordinator (DAC) to join our dedicated Supportive Care Services, North team based out of Cross Cancer Institute - Edmonton General Continuing Care Satellite site. As an Oncology Drug Access Coordinator, you'll help patients navigate financial barriers to access their prescribed cancer treatments. You'll collaborate with healthcare providers, private clinics, insurance providers, and financial assistance programs to coordinate chemotherapy and other treatments. Key responsibilities include: Helping patients access oncology treatments despite insurance or formulary barriers. Staying up to date on funding options, drug plan submissions, and assistance programs for patient coverage and confirming outcome of coverage. Supporting the coordination of timely delivery of chemotherapy and treatments. Streamlining processes using your knowledge of insurance plans and hospital protocols. Assists physicians in applying for and maintaining patients on Patient Support Programs, including populating forms & follow up. Coordinates confirmation to proceed with treatment with private infusion centre according to protocol delivery and ensures appropriate post-care follow-up is scheduled. Completion of post-secondary education (e.g. certificate in office or business administration).
Additional Required Qualifications:Minimum one year of cancer care experience (working in a hospital or clinic). A degree or diploma in a health-related discipline preferred or equivalent experience. Proficient with Microsoft Outlook, Excel, Word, Powerpoint. Pharmaceutical knowledge. Medical Terminology certification/education. Experience providing virtual care including phone, Zoom, email and MyChart in the last six months. Strong working knowledge of electronic medical record system EPIC/Connect Care, MS Excel/MS office and management of databases is required. Ability to manage a large workload including a emotionally distressed patient population.
Preferred Qualifications:Within the last 12 months, experience as Drug Access Coordinator/Navigator. Medical Office Assistant and/or Unit Clerk diploma. Min 3 years’ experience Admin Assistant IV/V or project assistant in a healthcare or hospital environment within interdisciplinary team. Pharmacy Technician education and experience. Experience using Connect Care: Referrals Management. Highly independent work and excellent organizational skills.
