Your Opportunity:

These pillars guide the development and delivery of service to all patients and families. This position performs complex clerical duties related to patient bed allocation. Along with Site Manager guidance the Bed Placement clerk will coordinate and assign beds for all direct, elective, and emergent patient admissions. You will be responsible for accurately placing admissions according to workflows, diagnosis, isolation requirements, and time order. You will work closely with AHS staff on other sites to ensure optimum zone wide utilization of beds and provide a summary and report of bed availability on an ongoing basis. The Clerk V will demonstrate a high level of personal accountability, initiative, and independent decision making, while maintaining a professional attitude and the ability to remain calm, courteous and tactful when dealing with stressful situations. Effective communication with physicians, nurses, and AHS staff is crucial along with adept critical thinking, conflict resolution, and problem-solving skills. This role requires the candidate to be able to continuously prioritize and multitask when faced with competing demands; show flexibility and attention to detail; and foster a positive and respectful team environment. This position requires confidentiality of all AHS information in accordance with HIA, FOIP, and other privacy legislation in effect and shall always comply with AHS’s Information Privacy and Information Security Policies.

Required Qualifications:

Completion of post-secondary education (e.g. certificate in office or business administration).

Additional Required Qualifications:

Completion of post-secondary education (e.g. Unit Clerk or Medical Office Assistant Program) Minimum 1 year experience recent within the past 2 years providing administrative support in an acute care hospital inpatient Bed Placement Role. Medical Terminology. Experience using the following MS Office programs – Excel (creating tables, formatting), Outlook, Windows, Teams. Experience using the following programs: Connect Care (EPIC) Bed Planner Role. Excellent knowledge of the English language both written and oral. Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills. Excellent keyboarding skills. Excellent attention to detail. This role requires the candidate to be able to sit, stand, walk, lift > 10 pounds, work on a computer and field multiple phone calls throughout their shift. The Bed Placement clerk will work independently, and face multiple competing capacity demands and responsibilities.
