This Casual position is located at University of Alberta Hospital and will be accountable for performing a variety of tasks to ensure a quality patient, resident and customer experience. This multi-faceted position supports site operations and reports directly to the Supervisor. Under minimal supervision this position performs a wide range of clerical tasks including, but not limited to staff scheduling, food and supply requisitions, supporting diet entry in CBORD, providing support & customer service to staff, patients & visitors, data entry & typing, and supporting the training and auditing processes within the department. This position may also be asked to perform a variety of other clerical duties appropriate to their classification. This position may require you to be able to bend, lift, push, and pull items of up to 20lbs. The successful candidate will be able to work in a fast-paced environment with speed and accuracy; Work under pressure in high-stress situations; Demonstrate critical thinking skills and initiative; Communicates effectively in English with customers, patients, co-workers, and other hospital departments; Work as an effective, professional team member with a focus on exceptional patient and family-centered care.

Completion of Grade 12 or equivalent.
Additional Required Qualifications:Minimum standard for typing is 35 words per minute. Minimum 1 year experience in healthcare food service environment. Minimum 1 year customer service experience. Minimum of 2 years' experience in a general office setting. Experience with Microsoft Suite. All new employees must be able to attend a 2-day Patient Food Service New Employee Orientation followed by an onsite orientation shift. Preferred Qualifications:Post-secondary administrative assistant/clerical education or education in a related field. Experience with basic mathematical skills. One year of experience working in a diet office setting. Experience with WFM, CBORD, ConnectCare, RMID and Formula Calculator. Experience working with diet terminology & guidelines.
