Administrative Support III
Your Opportunity:
Working under the general direction of the area supervisor, the Reception Clerk performs reception and other clerical duties for the Diagnostic Imaging department. The individual will be required to assist with obtaining and maintaining all records associated with appointments and will work closely with other areas within the Diagnostic Imaging department. Registration/Reception/Imaging Records Duties: Works with Radiology Information System (RIS). Update address/phone number and emergency contact in the Admission/Discharge/Transfer system (ADT), changes to patient demographics are referred back to Admitting for correction. Book examination through Department Order Entry and scheduling attaching the ADT encounter. In RIS, check patient in o Send no-show letters for any appointments that didn’t arrive. Works with Hospital Information System (HIS), searching patient information (blood work and confirming clinical history). Maintains electronic patient files, which may include entering/cancelling orders and modifying/rebooking appointments. In consultation with the appropriate individual, ensures that patient schedules for the area are current and maximized. Advises Physicians’ offices, clinics and patients of patient appointment including information for procedure of appointment preparation. Greets patients arriving at the reception desks, directing them to the appropriate waiting rooms, checking patient in or creating orders, as required. Works with Hospital Information System (HIS), searching patient information. Works with PACS, RIS, Approach, Netcare, OR Manager, Connect Care. Scanning paper documents as required. Printing various information lists as required. Retrieves prior patient reports, images, lab results, and other information that may be relevant to current procedure request.

Completion of Grade 12 or equivalent.
Additional Required Qualifications:Medical Terminology Course required. Accurate and proficient keyboarding skills, 35 words per minute required. Typing test will be required. Demonstrated proficiency in Windows (Word, Excel, Internet, and Email). Absolute attention to detail and accuracy. Excellent knowledge of the English language both written and oral. Demonstrated ability to maintain a professional manner, manage stressful situations with empathy and to remain calm, courteous, sensitive and tactful at all times. Demonstrated ability to work independently. Skilled at paying close attention to detail. Able to prioritize work and cope with frequent interruptions. Must be able to work all shifts based on operational needs. Equipment troubleshooting, printer, fax, and PC.
Preferred Qualifications:Minimum 3 months recent experience in a hospital or medical environment, involved in booking, reception, and clerical duties preferred. Recent Diagnostic Imaging experience desired. Prior experience working with the public is an asset.
