Your Opportunity:

Reporting to North Zone Population and Public Health Area Manager, the Administrative Support III is the initial contact for community health clients and provides ongoing support in the framework of a positive lifetime relationship with public health. The Administrative Support III is responsible for performing reception, registration, and appointment booking functions; operating the switchboard, maintaining health records and processing care visit documentation; maintaining integrity of health records databases. Other clerical duties to support a range of programs and services provided in the Public Health Centre. In addition to a competitive rate of pay, AHS currently has a Remote Retention Allowance in place to an annual maximum of $3,000. This allowance is non-pensionable and is payable on an hourly basis for all hours paid at the basic rate of pay.

Required Qualifications:

Completion of Grade 12 or equivalent.

Additional Required Qualifications:

Office assistant courses and/or health record related courses, required. English language skills in reading, writing and oral communication, required. Knowledge and experience with Microsoft Windows bases computer programs and basic computer skills, required. Previous experience in an office environment with in the last five (5) years, required. Accurate data entry/keyboard skills, required. Ability to work with minimal supervision, required. Ability to work well within a team environment, both locally and across multiple sites/programs. Ability to foster positive interpersonal and communication skills in a professional manner with clients, healthcare providers, peers, departmental management, and other individuals who access Public Health services. Ability to prioritize workload to meet established turnaround times, required. Ability to make sound judgment decisions. Ability to adhere to strict organizational policies, procedures and legislated requirements regarding patient confidentiality. Ability to handle frequent interruptions and still meet workload timelines, required. Ability to move and lift moderately (up to 30 pounds) heavy objects, required. Ability to operate basic office equipment, including fax machine, photocopier and personal computer, required. Casual staff are required to have flexibility to work days, evening or Saturdays when required.

Preferred Qualifications:

Must have full Driver's License and reliable vehicle due to the remote, rural location. Ability to work with minimal supervision and work well within a team environment. Ability to foster positive interpersonal and communication skills in a professional manner with clients, healthcare providers, peers, departmental management, and other individuals who access Public Health services. Ability to make sound judgment decisions.
