Located on the 11th floor of the Foothills Medical Centre (FMC), our unit offers stunning views of downtown Calgary, the river valley, and the Rocky Mountains. Unit 112 is a 29-bed cardiac monitored unit that provides specialized care for acute strokes, brain injuries, brain tumors, spinal cord injuries, and other neurological issues. As an acute neuroscience/neurosurgery RN, you will work to the full scope of practice, providing comprehensive care for patients and families. Our team-forward environment emphasizes multidisciplinary collaboration with NPs, Nurse Clinicians, LPNs, HCAs, MDs, OTs, PTs, SWs, dietitians, and pharmacists. Strong teamwork and excellent inter-professional communication are key to our daily practice. Unit 112 offers advancement opportunities, including managing external ventricular drains and acute care for stroke and spinal cord injury patients. For new graduates, we provide a comprehensive orientation and mentoring program. The FMC campus supports staff wellbeing with amenities like Starbucks, Good Earth, Tim Hortons, a staff fitness center, scenic river walks, proximity to the University District, and a new staff wellness patio. Description:

As a Registered Nurse (RN), you will provide a wide variety of nursing services to patients, families, communities and populations, while taking necessary steps to ensure their safety and well-being. In your role, you will utilize nursing processes, through critical thinking, problem solving and decision making, as well as teach, counsel and advocate on behalf of patients and their families. You will play a leadership role in supporting an integrated and holistic approach to patient care, health promotion and maintenance. You will provide safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of AHS. PLEASE NOTE: Provisional Permit holders will be paid $39.58 - $54.16 per hour. Upon obtaining a full licence, the rate of pay will be adjusted to the applicable Registered Nurse rate in accordance with UNA Article 25.02(b)(i) or (ii) as applicable.

Required Qualifications:

Completion of an accredited nursing education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP) certification. If you have not practiced as a Registered Nurse within the past five (5) years, completion of the following free courses is required prior to employment: CRNA Medication Management (Chapters 1-4): https://connect.nurses.ab.ca/home/learning-and-development/learning-modules NextGenU Health Assessment Resources Certification: https://courses.nextgenu.org/course/view.php?id=271.

Additional Required Qualifications:

Active registration with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA). To ensure your skills and qualifications are considered, please attach a resume and cover letter with your application.

Preferred Qualifications:

One to two years’ experience in an acute post-operative / surgical setting. Recent neuroscience/neurosurgical nursing experience. Cardiac monitoring experience. Previous experience orientating new staff or preceptoring students. Previous connect care experience. Charge Nurse experience.
