Your Opportunity:

The Nurse Clinician is responsible for the coordination of a multi-disciplinary team and the provision of patient care in the Urgent Care Centre. This leadership role includes ensuring safe and quality patient care, mentoring of staff, problem solving, team collaboration, and facilitating the flow of the Urgent Care Centre. The Sheldon Chumir Health Centre, located in downtown Calgary, offers a wide range of services including urgent care, mental health, supervised consumption services, public health, home care, specialty clinics and community outreach. The Urgent Care Centre (UCC) is open 24 hours a day, seven days a week and provides care for unscheduled health conditions to a diverse population, as part of an integrated community service delivery model.

Description:

As a Nurse Clinician (NC), you will be responsible for the coordination of an interprofessional team, in the provision of quality patient (client, resident) care in order to meet the operational priorities and requirements within a clinical setting. You will use an integrative leadership approach in assisting, planning, implementing and evaluating care needs, while assuming responsibility for staff assignments, patient flow and clinical resources. You will play a key role in providing safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of AHS.

Required Qualifications:

Completion of an accredited nursing education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP).

Additional Required Qualifications:

Certification in Unit Based Advanced Competences required. Baccalaureate degree in Nursing. Current ACLS is required (from Canadian Heart & Stroke Foundation). Minimum of 5 years current clinical expertise in an Emergency Department or Urgent Care Centre. Recent experience in the charge role in an Emergency Department or Urgent Care Centre. CTAS training and recent triage experience in an Urgent Care or Emergency Department setting. Ability to work in a stressful, rapid paced, dynamic environment required. Demonstrated strong leadership, organizational and interpersonal skills. Effective communication skills required. Able to work independently and collaboratively is required.

Preferred Qualifications:

Recent NVCI training. Experience with pediatric populations an asset. Proficiency working with Connect Care (EPIC) ASAP module. Advanced certifications such as PALS, NRP, ENPC, TNCC, ACCN preferred.
