Your Opportunity:
Reporting to the Relief Team Manager, you will be scheduled to work shifts in both Designated Supportive Living (Type B) units, Enhanced Care Unit (ECU) or the Transition Care Unit (TCU). The Type B units provide clients with a home where they can enjoy privacy and independence with the comfort of knowing their health and personal care supports are on-site when needed. The ECU is a dynamic environment that is designed to meet the needs of individuals who present with a combination of dementia syndrome and complex behavioral issues. If you are a Health Care Aide (HCA), who likes variety and thrives on giving client and family-centered care within an interdisciplinary healthcare team, this position will appeal to you. Mackenzie Place recognized that each client has unique values and personal history with an equal right to dignity, respect, and to participate fully in their environment. The HCA participates as an unregulated worker in the delivery of quality client care by performing services necessary for the physical/emotional well-being and comfort of the client under the supervision of a Registered Nurse (RN), and/or Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN). You must be available on days, evenings, weekends and stats. Duties include assisting clients with activities of daily living, personal care, lifting and transferring, and assisting with health care tasks/procedures as necessary. In addition to a competitive rate of pay, AHS currently has a Remote Retention Allowance in place to an annual maximum of $3,000. This allowance is non-pensionable and is payable on an hourly basis for all hours paid at the basic rate of pay.
Description:
As a Health Care Aide (HCA), you will work as a collaborative member of the multi-disciplinary team providing personal assistance including supporting activities of daily living and support services to patients (clients, residents) who require short-term assistance or ongoing support, in accordance with the patient care plan and facility policies and procedures. In this position you will work closely with patients, families, and caregivers spanning the continuum of care in home, community or health care facilities assisting nurses with the provision of routine care to meet patients' hygiene, nutrition, mobility, recreation and safety needs, assisting with organized activities or programs and observing and reporting on a patient's mood, health, and wellbeing.
