Alberta Precision Laboratories (APL) is seeking a Quality Laboratory Technologist II (MLT II) to support our Quality Management System. This role requires strong judgment, organizational and communication skills, and the ability to collaborate with diverse, remote teams. Familiarity with laboratory accreditation requirements is essential. Responsibilities include supporting APL in meeting requirements for laboratory accreditation. As part of the Quality Assessments and Compliance team you will support accreditation readiness and continuous quality improvement. You bring sound judgment, strong organizational and communication skills, and the ability to collaborate effectively with diverse and remote stakeholders. Your adaptability and comfort with change makes you a great fit for this evolving environment. Key responsibilities include support for the internal and external assessment processes and performance of Quality audits and audit training. Reporting to the Quality Lead, the Quality MLTII works with a high degree of independence to coordinate and implement provincial quality programs and processes. The position works collaboratively with APL departments and programs to implement and maintain the APL Quality Management System. Tasks associated with this role include (but are not limited to) coordination, delivery, support, and maintenance of APL’s Quality Management System (QMS), support for internal and external assessments and internal auditor training.
Description:
As a Medical Laboratory Technologist (MLT) II, you will coordinate the day-to-day operations and the quality control function of the laboratory. You may have advanced technical knowledge or are the lead responsible for coordinating the day-to-day operations of Laboratory Information System (LIS) support, site education, quality assurance or laboratory research programs. Your responsibilities may include coordinating, prioritizing, monitoring and assigning work to MLT l's, providing technical advice, problem solving and trouble shooting on a variety of laboratory instruments. In addition, you will participate in the technical aspects of the laboratory, ensuring the performance of standard and specialized procedures.

Completion of an accredited Medical Laboratory Technology (MLT) program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Medical Laboratory Technologists of Alberta (CMLTA).
Additional Required Qualifications:Minimum of two (2) years’ experience in the last 5 years in a clinical laboratory setting, ideally in an organization of significant size, complexity, and diversity. Experience in Quality Management System activities such as internal or external assessments. Minimum two (2) years’ experience with Microsoft 365 suite of applications (e.g. Word, Excel, Outlook, SharePoint, Teams).
Preferred Qualifications:Formal Quality Auditor Education. Formal Quality Management System Certification or equivalent recent (within the last 5 years) experience working with a Medical Laboratory Quality Management System. Process Improvement Certification (e.g. AIW Green Belt) or recent (within the last 5 years) experience leading a process improvement project. Formal Change Management certification (e.g. ProSCI).
