Description:
As a Medical Laboratory Technologist (MLT) II, you will coordinate the day-to-day operations and the quality control function of the laboratory. You may have advanced technical knowledge or are the lead responsible for coordinating the day-to-day operations of Laboratory Information System (LIS) support, site education, quality assurance or laboratory research programs. Your responsibilities may include coordinating, prioritizing, monitoring and assigning work to MLT l's, providing technical advice, problem solving and trouble shooting on a variety of laboratory instruments. In addition, you will participate in the technical aspects of the laboratory, ensuring the performance of standard and specialized procedures.

Completion of an accredited Medical Laboratory Technology (MLT) program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Medical Laboratory Technologists of Alberta (CMLTA).
Additional Required Qualifications:Minimum 4 years in technical laboratory experience in Microbiology. Knowledge and training in Microbiology is required. Completion of Connect Care Beaker CP Microbiology Technologist training. Computer literacy and keyboarding skills are required with experience in using Microsoft Office, Connect Care (Epic), ePeople, My Safety Net, Sharepoint. Demonstrate ability to prioritize workload, direct work assignments and adapt to stressful situations using tact and diplomacy. Ability to effectively communicate in English through well-developed oral and written communication skills. Ability to investigate and resolve non-conforming events independently. Demonstrates excellent organizational, problem-solving, troubleshooting and decision-making skills. Experience and/or knowledge of Laboratory Safety practices.
Preferred Qualifications:Knowledge of and training in quality improvement and customer service. Experience with accreditation standards, implementation and addressing deficiencies. Experience with or completion of leadership courses, including teambuilding, conflict resolution, process improvement and change management. Ability to give and receive constructive feedback. Receptive to new ideas and change. Ability to work independently and within a team.
