Your Opportunity:

The Medical Laboratory Technologist II (MLT II), Public Health Support Pre-analytics position offers an exciting opportunity to be part of the supervisory team responsible for the delivery of public health specialized testing, outbreak and emerging infectious disease response, as well as research and surveillance testing support. Key aspects of this position include working in a team environment to provide technical expertise and supervision for these areas. You will collaborate with Clinical Supervisors, Medical Laboratory Technologists and Medical Laboratory Assistants to ensure workflow processes and procedures support the needs of all testing areas. Your responsibilities include: utilizing your knowledge, technical expertise, leadership, and communication skills to oversee day to day operations: planning and coordination of resource management (staff, equipment, and supplies), ensuring performance of safe and quality focused processes, investigating and troubleshooting problems, performing process analysis, recommending and implementing resolutions and corrective actions, participating in activities related to training, competency, audits, and inspections, as well as building and maintaining relationships with clients and stakeholders to provide quality customer service support.

Description:

As a Medical Laboratory Technologist (MLT) II, you will coordinate the day-to-day operations and the quality control function of the laboratory. You may have advanced technical knowledge or are the lead responsible for coordinating the day-to-day operations of Laboratory Information System (LIS) support, site education, quality assurance or laboratory research programs. Your responsibilities may include coordinating, prioritizing, monitoring and assigning work to MLT l's, providing technical advice, problem solving and trouble shooting on a variety of laboratory instruments. In addition, you will participate in the technical aspects of the laboratory, ensuring the performance of standard and specialized procedures.

Required Qualifications:

Completion of an accredited Medical Laboratory Technology (MLT) program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Medical Laboratory Technologists of Alberta (CMLTA).

Additional Required Qualifications:

One to two years advanced knowledge and experience with Connect Care information system processes. Pre-analytical Beaker experience is critical.

Preferred Qualifications:

Minimum three years’ experience in a Public Health and/or Microbiology laboratory. Progressive leadership skills including demonstrated ability in training, coaching, troubleshooting and team development. Advanced knowledge and experience with process improvement and change management. Comprehensive understanding and experience of quality systems management.
