Your Opportunity:
The Cellular Therapy Laboratory is located at the Arthur J.E. Child Comprehensive Cancer Centre. CTL is the sole provider of life saving cellular therapy and transplant products for both adults and children treated by the Alberta Blood and Marrow Transplant Program. The majority of work is accomplished M-F dayshift. They are a FACT accredited laboratory and perform many clinical trials for cutting edge treatments for diseases. As a member of CTL, you will work within a dedicated team that processes, manufacturers, modifies, and prepares various sources of stem cells for infusion into patients. These processes include cryopreservation and long-term storage of a patient's own cells for autologous transplant, preparation of products from matched related and unrelated donors, graft modification to makes the best products for the patient and remove harmful cells via CD34 Enrichment and T Cell Receptor alpha beta CD19 depletion, and manufacturing of cells to fight specific viruses and cancers (i.e., manufacturing of Chimeric Antigen Receptor (CAR) T cells). CTL is always expanding and exploring new and exciting ways to treat and cure people. The position requires working alone while on call and on patient units and needing the successful candidate to have quick decision making and troubleshooting skills under stressful conditions.

As a Medical Laboratory Technologist (MLT) I, you will be responsible for the daily processing, testing, results analysis and reporting of diagnostic samples within the laboratory department. You will perform a variety of routine and specialized procedures in the processing of specimens used in diagnosis, treatment and research.

Completion of an accredited Medical Laboratory Technology (MLT) program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Medical Laboratory Technologists of Alberta (CMLTA).
Additional Required Qualifications:Must possess manual dexterity to handle and manufacture cell therapy products, including the safe handling and transport of wheeled 240L liquid nitrogen (LN₂) tanks.
Preferred Qualifications:Recent experience in Cellular Therapy, TM, Flow Cytometry, and HLA/Immunogenetics. Skilled in cryopreservation, aseptic technique, CliniMACS systems, and cell manufacturing. Post Secondary education in Molecular Biology, Microbiology, Biochemistry, or Biomedical Sciences. Demonstrated ability to engage in direct patient interaction, as staff will be present on clinical units to support the delivery of cell therapy products.
