Your Opportunity:

This position is an excellent opportunity for any individual who would like to perform a full range of technical processes associated with Anatomical Pathology. The successful candidate will perform a variety of routine and specialized Anatomical Pathology procedures. Duties include: Handling and preparing tissue for routine or specialized processing, embedding and microtomy, routine and specialized staining procedures, frozen sections, grossing of specimens up to CPL 4, performing routine equipment maintenance, troubleshooting of various laboratory instruments and quality control activities. The candidate may also be required to be on call to support urgent procedures after routine operational hours on a rotational basis. Other duties that may be assigned as appropriate. This is a multisite position that may rotate between the University of Alberta Hospital and the Cross Cancer Institute Laboratory.

Description:

As a Medical Laboratory Technologist (MLT) I, you will be responsible for the daily processing, testing, results analysis and reporting of diagnostic samples within the laboratory department. You will perform a variety of routine and specialized procedures in the processing of specimens used in diagnosis, treatment and research.

Required Qualifications:

Completion of an accredited Medical Laboratory Technology (MLT) program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Medical Laboratory Technologists of Alberta (CMLTA).

Additional Required Qualifications:

As Required.

Preferred Qualifications:

Previous experience in Anatomical Pathology. Experience using Epic laboratory information system.
