Your Opportunity:
This MLT I position at the Alberta Children’s Hospital Rapid Response Lab will be responsible for the processing, testing, result analysis and reporting of diagnostic samples. This MLT I will perform automated and manual procedures to produce accurate, timely results in accordance with lab policies and procedures in Chemistry, Hematology and Transfusion Medicine. This MLT I will work within a multi-skilled team setting and ensure quality competency, high quality testing operations and accurate results. This opportunity will highlight your technical skills with a variety of responsibilities including performing testing and maintenance on technical equipment, participating in the evaluation of new instrumentation and methodologies, and partaking in procedure reviews and accreditation processes. In this role you will ensure accurate sample identification, integrity and suitability and monitor department supply inventory. With your high level of attention to detail, you have an ability to identify and troubleshoot problems and proactively takes the initiative to address issues. You may additionally complete sweat chloride, bone marrow collections and preceptor duties. Here you will demonstrate your high standard of customer service, communication, professional image and positive outlook while working collaboratively in the team environment. Demonstrate your personal leadership promoting change initiatives and participating in training of new staff and students. You may have the opportunity to perform timekeeping and scheduling responsibilities. This position is primarily 7 on, 7 off Nights. Other shifts may be required.

As a Medical Laboratory Technologist (MLT) I, you will be responsible for the daily processing, testing, results analysis and reporting of diagnostic samples within the laboratory department. You will perform a variety of routine and specialized procedures in the processing of specimens used in diagnosis, treatment and research.

Completion of an accredited Medical Laboratory Technology (MLT) program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Medical Laboratory Technologists of Alberta (CMLTA).
Additional Required Qualifications:Minimum of 1 year of experience in a Rapid Response Lab, or Hematology, Chemistry or Transfusion Medicine, within the last 2 years. Working knowledge of Connect Care Beaker. Working knowledge of WellSky LIS. Proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel and Teams.
Preferred Qualifications:Experience in a pediatric setting. Experience & competency on multiple benches, including Chemistry, Hematology and Transfusion Medicine. Courses or certificates in personal leadership, process improvement, and/or change management. Preceptor or trainer experience. Experience with Bone Marrow collections. Experience in collection and testing of Sweat Chlorides.
