In this important role, you will be a key contributor to the team, supporting the processing and handling of pathology specimens while ensuring quality standards are maintained throughout every step of the workflow. Your duties will include: Receiving, preparing, and handling pathology specimens for testing. Supporting specimen transportation, storage, and disposal processes. Preparing and disposing of laboratory reagents according to established procedures. Completing block melting, slide filing, and block filing tasks. Coordinating specimen and material send-out activities. Operating laboratory equipment and instruments. Performing routine instrument maintenance and quality control procedures. Completing computer-based and clerical duties to support laboratory operations. Assisting with problem-solving and troubleshooting to ensure efficient workflow and service delivery. Other duties, as assigned. Description:

As a Medical Laboratory Assistant I, you will provide high quality service to clients of the clinical laboratory in an effective, efficient and safe manner. You will be responsible for a variety of laboratory functions including procurement, handling, processing, dispatching and testing of specimens, performing procedures and reporting results.

Required Qualifications:

Completion of an accredited Medical Laboratory Assistant program or equivalent.

Preferred Qualifications:

Recent experience in AP is an asset. Experience with Connect-Care is an asset. Completion of a Medical Terminology course is an asset.
