Your Opportunity:
The Laboratory Assistant I in the Media and Glassware department at ProvLab offers an exciting opportunity to perform specialized procedures in media preparation and glassware management. Key aspects include working within a team environment in the preparation and storage of laboratory media, reagents, and antibiotics, proper storage and disposal of chemicals, biohazard waste collection, decontamination and disposal, washing, sterilizing, restocking and distribution of lab ware. Additionally, the Laboratory Assistant I will be required to operate and perform maintenance for laboratory equipment while following established safety protocols and ensure proper documentation of all quality control activities as per accreditation standards.
Description:
As a Medical Laboratory Assistant I, you will provide high quality service to clients of the clinical laboratory in an effective, efficient and safe manner. You will be responsible for a variety of laboratory functions including procurement, handling, processing, dispatching and testing of specimens, performing procedures and reporting results.

Completion of an accredited Medical Laboratory Assistant program or equivalent.
Additional Required Qualifications:Completion of a High School Diploma. Proven comprehension, written and communication skills. Graduate of an approved Laboratory Assistant Program. Proficient computer skills for Microsoft applications including Excel and Word. Proven ability to work well in a team contributing to a positive work environment.
Preferred Qualifications:Knowledge of WHMIS and SDS.
