Join the Edmonton Zone Medical Lab Assistant team! Working at the University of Alberta Hospital, your opportunity to provide high quality patient care will cover a variety of laboratory duties in Anatomic Pathology. Duties include accessioning, handling, processing, dispatching and testing specimens, answering phones and directing inquiries, troubleshooting samples that do not meet sample acceptance criteria, assisting in the gross room, and grossing pick-and-transfer specimens. Anatomic Pathology is a hands-on department that is a great place to learn about patient care and see some of the most interesting cases that come to lab. We have a diverse team - with MLAs, MLTs, PAs, pathologists, residents, and many learners on site. We are looking for someone who is motivated, energetic, pleasant, reliable, eager to learn, a great communicator, and a great team member.
Description:
As a Medical Laboratory Assistant I, you will provide high quality service to clients of the clinical laboratory in an effective, efficient and safe manner. You will be responsible for a variety of laboratory functions including procurement, handling, processing, dispatching and testing of specimens, performing procedures and reporting results.

Completion of an accredited Medical Laboratory Assistant program or equivalent.
Additional Required Qualifications:Recent and relevant experience in AP.
Preferred Qualifications:Experience with EPIC, Beaker – AP modules. Experience grossing and using voice recognition an asset.
