Completion of an accredited Medical Laboratory Assistant program or equivalent.
Additional Required Qualifications:Medical Laboratory Assistant certificate from an educational institute within Canada satisfactory to APL or MLA certification through CSMLS. Proficiency in data entry. Competency in phlebotomy. May be required to pass a phlebotomy skills challenge to the satisfaction of APL. Any Canadian equivalency to English 30 or 33 or CLBA score of Benchmark 8 completed within the last six months. Prolonged standing, walking and bending is required. Able to lift, carry, push or pull objects weighing more than 20lbs. Prolonged standing, walking and bending is required.
Preferred Qualifications:Phlebotomy experience in a hospital, within the last year preferred. Experience in neonatal skin puncture. Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite programs and Outlook Web Access. Experience with Cerner Millennium. Courses or certificates in personal leadership development. Courses or training in process improvement or change management.
