Completion of an accredited Medical Laboratory Assistant program.
Additional Required Qualifications:Medical Laboratory Assistant certificate or Medical Laboratory Technologist diploma from an educational institute within Canada satisfactory to APL or MLA certification through CSMLS. Competency in phlebotomy. May be required to pass a phlebotomy skills challenge. Knowledge of ECG theory. Data entry proficiency. A valid class 5 driver's license with no restrictions (a Graduated Driver’s License (GDL) will not be accepted), a driver's abstract, completed within the last 2 months and satisfactory to APL and an absence of prior criminal code convictions for driving related offences. Required to work on an on call basis during day shifts on weekends and statutory holidays, on a rotational basis. Physical ability (lifting and carrying 10 to 20 pounds, walking, driving). Any Canadian equivalency to English 30 or 33 or CLBA score of Benchmark 8 completed within the last 6 months.
Preferred Qualifications:Experience as a Mobile Medical Lab Assistant (MLA) with collection experience in Long-Term Care and/or supportive living. Experience within the past 2 years preferred. Experience as an MLA. Experience within the past 2 years preferred. Six months experience in performing ECGs within the past five years. At least three years of driving experience in Calgary and area. At least two years of phlebotomy experience. Experience within the last six months preferred. Ability to work independently.
