Description:

As a Combined Laboratory and X-Ray Technologist II, you will direct and supervise the day-to-day operation of department staff and services in their area. You will be responsible for the coordination, organization and operation of the site Laboratory and Diagnostic Imaging departments. You will also be responsible to perform site specific manual and automated laboratory procedures, diagnostic imaging exams, cardiology procedures and related duties following established standards and practice defined by the Alberta College of Combined Laboratory and X-Ray Technologists (ACCLXT), College of Physicians and Surgeons of Alberta (CPSA) and Health Professions Act.

Required Qualifications:

Completion of diploma from an accredited program in Combined Laboratory and X-Ray Technology (CLXT). Active or eligible for registration with the Alberta College of Combined Laboratory and X-ray Technologists (ACCLXT).

Additional Required Qualifications:

This is a Laboratory and Diagnostic Imaging position. The successful candidate must have the ability to work various shifts including days, evenings, weekends, and take call by responding within 30 minutes. The CLXT II provides leadership in daily operations of the Lab and DI services. Participates fully in the technical aspects of Laboratory procedures, ensures the performance of routine and preventative maintenance of all equipment and trouble shoots problems as required. Assists management in achieving appropriate performance levels within the laboratory while maintaining Accreditation Standards. Supports Quality Assurance, Quality Control and Continuous Improvement activities. Ensures that reports are complete, statistical data is accurate and compiled and forwarded accordingly. Maintains and controls an adequate inventory ensuring supplies are always available for laboratory procedures. Documents all information (including QC) as required and stated in procedures. Assesses unusual test results and proceeds as required/ Oversees point of care testing procedures and quality control. Updates established policies and procedures and quality control procedures. Follows up on investigation and documentation of QC problems. Is responsible for overseeing the orientation and training of new lab staff, students, and hospital staff.

Preferred Qualifications:

Previous supervisory experience is an asset. Laboratory experience working with Ortho Chemistry Analyzers, ACL Elite Pro, and the Sysmex Hematology analyzer. Diagnostic Imaging experience with the RADspeed PRO DR. EPIC LIS experience is preferred.
