You work well under pressure and are able to prioritize workload and adapt to stressful and emergency situations using tact and diplomacy. You can follow lab and diagnostic imaging processes and procedures exactly, including hematology, chemistry, coagulation, urinalysis, specimen collection, preparation, referral, cardiology and general diagnostic imaging. Sylvan Lake Community Health Centre is a busy site where you will work both independently and as part of a team utilizing your organizational, interpersonal and communication skills. The position includes days, evenings and weekends duties. Sylvan Lake Community Health Centre is a busy facility featuring an Advanced Ambulatory Care service so you can expect some day-to-day variety in your work. Sylvan Lake is a town in central Alberta, Canada. It is located 25 kilometers west of the City of Red Deer along Highway 11 or Highway 11A. It is situated on the southeast edge of Sylvan Lake, a 15- kilometre-long freshwater lake, in Red Deer County. The lake is a popular destination for tourists from around Alberta, with over 1.5 million visitors each year. Popular tourist activities include sunbathing, swimming, water-skiing. Description:

As a Combined Laboratory and X-Ray Technologist I, you will perform procedures in both the laboratory and in diagnostic imaging, typically in rural sites. You will work as a member of the inter-professional team and be responsible for collecting and analyzing biological specimens, conducting X-ray examinations, ECGs and reporting results. Your responsibilities include preparing patients, venipuncture and micropuncture, routine equipment maintenance, maintaining supplies and performing quality control procedures as required.

Required Qualifications:

Completion of diploma from an accredited program in Combined Laboratory and X-Ray Technology (CLXT). Active or eligible for registration with the Alberta College of Combined Laboratory and X-ray Technologists (ACCLXT).

Additional Required Qualifications:

Recent relevant experience as a Combined Laboratory and X-Ray Technologist performing procedures in a core laboratory including hematology, chemistry, coagulation, urinalysis, specimen collection (venipuncture, micropuncture, Type and Screen, Blood Culture, etc.), preparation and general diagnostic imaging, including hospital affiliated training programs. Recent cardiology experience including ECG. Basic Cardiac Life Support Certification.

Preferred Qualifications:

Recent and relevant experience with Connect Care Epic LIS, Unity Real Time and Caresphere, MUSE and PEI/PACS. Recent CR/DR experience. Familiar with Sysmex XS-1000i, ACL Elite Pro, Clinitek Status, iStat, Triage Meter. Recent Holter Monitor and Cardioday experience. Good organizational skills and ability to assume responsibility. Good interpersonal and communication skills. Ability to work and promote good teamwork. Receptive to new ideas and change.
