Your Opportunity:

Smoky Lake, a town located one hour north-east of Edmonton near the junction of Highway 28 and 855 has over 1200 residents and has been dubbed the Pumpkin Capital of Alberta. As a Combined Laboratory and X-Ray Technologist I, you will perform site specific manual and automated laboratory procedures, diagnostic imaging exams, cardiology procedures and related duties following established standards of practice defined by the Alberta College of Combined Laboratory and X-Ray Technologists (ACCLXT), College of Physicians and Surgeons of Alberta (CPSA) and Health Professions Act.

Description:

As a Combined Laboratory and X-Ray Technologist I, you will perform procedures in both the laboratory and in diagnostic imaging, typically in rural sites. You will work as a member of the inter-professional team and be responsible for collecting and analyzing biological specimens, conducting X-ray examinations, ECGs and reporting results. Your responsibilities include preparing patients, venipuncture and micropuncture, routine equipment maintenance, maintaining supplies and performing quality control procedures as required.

Required Qualifications:

Completion of diploma from an accredited program in Combined Laboratory and X-Ray Technology (CLXT). Active or eligible for registration with the Alberta College of Combined Laboratory and X-ray Technologists (ACCLXT).

Additional Required Qualifications:

The successful applicant must have a strong sense of teamwork and possess excellent communication skills. Strong technical skills and adaptability is imperative in this position.

Preferred Qualifications:

Proficient computer skills with knowledge of Laboratory Information Systems, as well as recent phlebotomy, ECG and bench experience is an asset.
