You work well under pressure and are able to prioritize workload and adapt to stressful and emergency situations using tact and diplomacy. You can follow lab and diagnostic imaging processes and procedures exactly, including hematology, chemistry, coagulation, urinalysis, specimen collection, preparation, referral, cardiology and general diagnostic imaging. Olds Hospital and Care Centre is a busy site where you will work both independently and as part of a team utilizing your organizational, interpersonal and communication skills. The position includes days, evenings, weekends and on call duties. Olds is a bustling community located just off of Highway 2 between Red Deer and Calgary. It is a thriving community but still maintains a welcoming small town atmosphere. The community is home to a variety of amenities that will appeal to the whole family including the Olds Sportsplex and the Ralph Klein Health and Wellness Centre located within the Olds College. Description:
As a Combined Laboratory and X-Ray Technologist I, you will perform procedures in both the laboratory and in diagnostic imaging, typically in rural sites. You will work as a member of the inter-professional team and be responsible for collecting and analyzing biological specimens, conducting X-ray examinations, ECGs and reporting results. Your responsibilities include preparing patients, venipuncture and micropuncture, routine equipment maintenance, maintaining supplies and performing quality control procedures as required.

Completion of diploma from an accredited program in Combined Laboratory and X-Ray Technology (CLXT). Active or eligible for registration with the Alberta College of Combined Laboratory and X-ray Technologists (ACCLXT).
Additional Required Qualifications:Recent, relevant experience as a Combined Laboratory and X-ray Technologist, performing procedures in a core laboratory and general diagnostic imaging, including hospital affiliated training programs. Laboratory experience includes hematology, expanded chemistry, coagulation, urinalysis, specimen collection, preparation and referral. Recent cardiology experience including ECG and Holter Monitor. The ability to effectively communicate in English. Good organizational skills and ability to assume responsibility. Proven interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to promote good teamwork. Demonstrated initiative, good judgment, and attention to detail. Ability to work under pressure and in emergency situations, prioritizing workload. Ability to demonstrate tact and courtesy in dealing with patients, staff, and physicians. Practices effective radiation protection, infection control, and safety techniques as applicable. Proficient computer skills. Basic Cardiac Life Support Certification. Demonstrated desire and actions to further own knowledge relating to profession. Ability to interpret, explain and apply applicable legislation, standards, policies and procedures. Receptive to new ideas and adaptable to change. An excellent attendance record, reliability and personal suitability must be demonstrated through your employment references.
Preferred Qualifications:Recent mobile radiography experience. Familiar with DXH 600, ACL Elite Pro, Vitros 3400, Clinitek Advantus, Access 2. Recent experience with Muse, Cardioday and PEI. Connect Care, Well Sky and Unity Real Time experience an asset.
