Completion of a Bachelor of Science degree. Active or eligible for registration with the College of Medical Laboratory Technologists of Alberta (CMLTA).
Additional Required Qualifications:Minimum 5 years’ recent experience in a diagnostic genetics laboratory performing cytogenetic and/or molecular testing and interpretation. Either experience with human cytogenetic processing and analysis techniques including proper use of ISCN nomenclature and specialized computer imaging platforms for karyotyping and FISH analysis. Alternatively (preferably additionally), experience with appropriate methodology and testing techniques applied in a molecular genetic laboratory, including but not limited to nucleic acid extraction, PCR, genotyping, sequencing as well as analytical software such as GeneMapper, Sequence Analysis, and SeqPilot.
Preferred Qualifications:Completion of an Advanced diploma in Clinical Genetics. Canadian Society of Medical Laboratory Science (CSMLS) certification in Clinical Genetics may be acceptable as an equivalent to an advanced diploma in Clinical Genetics. Proven leadership in decision-making, coaching, and inspiring others. Demonstrated personal and professional growth. A comparable combination of education and experience may be considered.
