Your Opportunity:
The RGH is a metropolitan hospital with over 600 inpatient beds. It is also the main site for urology and ophthalmology specialties. RGH is located next to the scenic Glenmore Reservoir in Southwest Calgary. RGH Social Work (within the Allied Health Portfolio) works collaboratively with the interdisciplinary teams in the Emergency Department, ICU/CCU, Medical/Surgical Units, Transition Units, and Maternal/Child Units. This position offers an opportunity work as part of a dynamic team where operational needs require flexibility to work across all portfolios. As a SW II, you will be a member of an interdisciplinary team and provide a range of social work services to patients and their families. Your services may include psychosocial assessment, resource-based interventions, individual and family treatment, risk screening, counselling, case management and coordination, and transition or discharge planning. You will have a proven ability to work effectively within a patient-centered and interdisciplinary team environment. Your assessment and critical thinking skills will be necessary to guide your work with complex family situations and system issues while also being able to support families through a myriad of circumstances. You must demonstrate an ability to provide clinical service within a continually changing health care environment. Your proven time management skills and demonstrated initiative will be an asset to this position. A day in the life of a Social Worker (SW II) in this position will require the candidate to be capable of managing an unpredictable, ever changing case load and if you enjoy a fast-paced environment, this is the opportunity you are looking for. Completion of bachelor's degree in Social Work. Active or eligible for registration with the Alberta College of Social Workers (ACSW).
Additional Required Qualifications:Experience in Social Work, in adult urban Acute Care, within the last 2 years. Experience with community resources and referral. Experience with discharge planning.
Preferred Qualifications:One year+ experience in Social Work in adult urban Acute Care. Experience with geriatrics and geriatric focused social work. Experience with crisis intervention, and grief/loss support. Experience working with homeless, addictions, and mental health. Familiarity with Advance Care planning, Financial Benefits programs and housing resources. Experience with a mat/child portfolio. Experience with ICU, CCU, Emergency Department. Experience at Rockyview General Hospital.
