Alberta Health Services (AHS) has an exciting opportunity for the role of Manager, Seniors’ Health, for Area 6 within AHS’s North Zone. This position’s location is negotiable within Area 6 of the North Zone, including the communities of High Prairie, Slave Lake, and McLennan. In addition to a competitive rate of pay, AHS currently has a Remote Retention Allowance in place to an annual maximum of $3,000. This allowance is non-pensionable and is payable on an hourly basis for all hours paid at the basic rate of pay. Reporting to the Area 6 Director of Clinical Operations, as the Area Manager for Seniors’ Health, you will oversee and report on all aspects of related health services within the assigned geographical area. In this role, you will provide leadership and support to Seniors’ Care programs and services within the communities of High Prairie, McLennan, and Slave Lake. You will be responsible and accountable for successful implementation, operation, and evaluation of Seniors’ Health Services, in support of the vision, mission, and business plan of Alberta Health Services. An excellent communicator with strong relationship-building skills, you will establish and maintain strong working relationships with staff, physicians, and relevant partners as you influence the direction of service delivery, and manage human, financial, and equipment resources within a complex, dynamic environment. Through leading and coaching, you will ensure the tools, frameworks, training, and examples are in place to enable a high-performing, successful seniors’ care team.

Required Qualifications:

A minimum of a bachelor degree in healthcare profession, healthcare management or related field. A minimum of 3 - 5 years in a management role ideally in an organization of significant size, complexity and diversity. A demonstrated clear pattern of professional and personal development. Progressive leadership experience in a healthcare environment.

Additional Required Qualifications:

In addition, the incumbent will possess a record of accomplishment in the following areas: Progressive leadership experience in a healthcare environment, including experience in a management role in health service operations. Effective communicator with strong organizational skills, influential skills, client focused orientation and commitment to providing quality services Leadership skills, including demonstrated ability and comfort with decision making responsibilities, coaching and teaching, and the ability to inspire and build confidence in others.

Preferred Qualifications:

Knowledge of legislation and regulation related to Healthcare. Knowledge of unionized work environments/union collective agreements. Knowledge of Protection for Persons in Care Act. Healthcare experience an asset. Combination of education and experience may be considered.
