Bachelors-level education with a strong quantitative component in a related field, e.g., community health sciences, health economics, biomedical statistics, epidemiology, quality assurance Minimum five years’ experience working with spreadsheets, statistical software, databases and tools for querying, integrating, analyzing, interpreting, reporting and disseminating data. Oracle SQL or other comparable database query and report writing experience.
Additional Required Qualifications:
Knowledge and ability to produce a variety of descriptive, inferential and predictive statistics. Excellent interpersonal relations and demonstrated ability to work with others effectively in teams. Proficiency in English, with strong verbal and written communication skills to produce reports and communicate with clients from across the organization. Strong critical thinking and problem solving skills. Ability to understand clinical issues, and to communicate effectively with a broad variety of people at different levels within the organization and with different skills and expertise. Working knowledge of Microsoft Office suite (Excel, Word, Powerpoint, Visio and Access) and the ability to become proficient with new software packages. Experience in screening, cleaning, linking, creating, modifying and analyzing datasets in a statistical or database-management software package. Experience in working with a variety of visualization tools eg. Tableau Ability to translate data into insights (i.e., interpreting the data to state what the main conclusions are and providing recommendations to customers) Must abide by the highest standards of confidentiality and have a sound understanding of the principles within Alberta’s Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act, as well as the Health Information Act.
Preferred Qualifications:
Graduate degree in a related field. Minimum three years’ related experience in a healthcare environment preferably in data analytics and information management. Experience with macros, stored procedures and statistical software applications an asset. Broad understanding of health systems.
