If you are an experienced Registered Nurse or Registered Psychiatric Nurse looking for an opportunity to strengthen your leadership skills and enjoys the perks of small town living, this position in Galahad may be for you! In this position, you are Charge Nurse responsible for 20 Continuing Care residents in a small facility focusing on the delivery of excellent patient and family centered care. Galahad Care Center has a very active recreation program and volunteer program that provides an individualized experience for each resident. As Charge Nurse, you are an integral part of the interdisciplinary care team, practicing full scope nursing, leading by example and mentoring new staff to give excellent care. The Village of Galahad is central to all surrounding amenities and is situated less than 100 km from Camrose, just north of the beautiful Battle River valley between Killam and Castor and east of Forestburg. Our town is a quiet family-oriented municipality of about 150 strong with a mix of all age groups and a great school system to support young families of the area. Please note, this facility provides Long Term Care (LTC) or Designated Supportive Living (DSL) services and by Order of the Chief Medical Officer of Health, many AHS employees are restricted to work only at a single LTC/DSL site for the remainder of the pandemic. Speak to the hiring manager who will confirm if, as the successful candidate in this position, you will be restricted to work at only one LTC/DLS site in Alberta.


As a Registered Nurse (RN), you will provide a wide variety of nursing services to patients, families, communities and populations, while taking necessary steps to ensure their safety and well-being. In your role, you will utilize nursing processes, through critical thinking, problem solving and decision making, as well as teach, counsel and advocate on behalf of patients and their families. You will play a leadership role in supporting an integrated and holistic approach to patient care, health promotion and maintenance. You will provide safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of AHS.

Required Qualifications:

Completion of an accredited nursing education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College and Association of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CARNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP).

Additional Required Qualifications:

Strong critical thinking and assessment skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

Recent gerontology nursing experience and/or education, charge nurse and leadership training however, if you are a new RN graduate who has completed a rural practicum, or a gerontology practicum, or a practicum on a Medicine Unit, you may be considered.
