Required Qualifications:

Completion of an accredited nursing education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College and Association of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CARNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP).

Additional Required Qualifications:

Demonstrate effective time management and organizational skills. Demonstrated critical thinking, problem solving, and decision making abilities. Must be able to provide direction to other health care workers. Basic computer skills required. Ability to work independently and in conjunction with other team members. Demonstrate ability to adapt quickly to changing and fluctuating workload. Demonstrate initiative, accountability, interpersonal and communication skills. Successful candidate must be able to lift 40lbs (18kg). Please note: The Alberta Kidney Care - North program requires candidates to complete/pass Hemodialysis Training, in Edmonton or Red Deer, which consists of 4 weeks on unit training and 2 weeks buddy shifts (or equivalent hours). A passing mark of 80% on the final exam and satisfactory performance during clinical component is required to move on to buddy shifts which are assigned by the hiring manager. Must be able to attend Hemodialysis Training in Edmonton or Red Deer. Candidates with previous experience will be required to complete Hemodialysis Training as per Manager/Educators discretion. Upon successful completion of Orientation and buddy shifts, the candidate will be scheduled and required to attend a mandatory 2-day Post-Orientation in Edmonton or Red Deer within 3 to 4 months of hire.

Preferred Qualifications:

Minimum 1-2 years recent Med-Surgical Nursing experience. Recent acute and chronic Hemodialysis. Nephrology nursing experience. Demonstrated knowledge of case management.
