Required Qualifications:

Completion of bachelor's degree in Recreation Therapy, Therapeutic Recreation or Recreation and Leisure Studies. Active or eligible registration for Professional Membership with Alberta Therapeutic Recreation Association (ATRA).

Additional Required Qualifications:

Minimum 3-5 years of experience working as a Recreation Therapist. Clinical experience working with children and youth with acquired injuries, chronic illness, and complex medical conditions. Demonstrated skills in utilizing adapted physical activity as part of treatment plan. Demonstrated experience prioritizing referrals from multiple clinical areas. Experience planning and facilitating therapeutic group programs and special events. Volunteer training and supervision experience required. Demonstrated ability to teach and deliver education material to families in an engaging and meaningful way. Demonstrated ability to function independently and within an interdisciplinary team environment. Demonstrated understanding of a Family Centered Care service delivery model. Valid Class 4 driver’s license to operate the hospital wheelchair accessible bus. Level C Basic Life Support (CPR)

Preferred Qualifications:

Minimum of 2 year experience working in a pediatric hospital setting and/or rehabilitation program. Experience working in camp environments/facilitating camp programs preferred. Experience working with community partners providing services to special needs children preferred. National Council for Therapeutic Recreation Certification is an asset. ATRA (Alberta Therapeutic Recreation Association) membership.
