Completion of doctoral degree in Psychology in an applied area relevant to the practice setting from a Canadian Psychological Association (CPA) or American Psychological Association (APA) program. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered. Active or eligible for registration with the College of Alberta Psychologists (CAP).
Additional Required Qualifications:Completion of an approved CPA/APA Doctoral internship with a concentration focus/emphasis in Forensic Mental Health. Experience as a Forensic Psychologist within the last 3 years. Knowledge and/or use of current actuarial risk assessment tools and structured professional judgement tools related to forensic mental health. (i.e. HCR-20 V3, STATIC-99R, STABLE, SARA-V3). Experience writing clinical assessment reports for the purpose of use in legal criminal court proceedings. Therapeutic skill set working with an offender population. Solid interpersonal communication skills, interviewing techniques and writing skills; solid working knowledge of mental health/mental illness. This position has transitioned to Recovery Alberta effective September 1, 2024. Preferred Qualifications:Minimum 1 year experience as a Registered Psychologist in a mental health setting within the last 5 years. Community Forensic experience preferred. Training and experience in group therapy, Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (TF-CBT), Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) and other evidence-based modalities. Non-Violent Crisis Intervention within the last 2 years. Active Full registration preferred.
