The Calgary Zone Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology is recruiting for a 1.0 FTE position to be filled by a Physician Assistant (PA) at the Foothills Medical Centre (FMC) to work with the Section of Gynecologic Oncology. Under the supervision of a physician, the PA will provide medical, post-operative and intra-operative care (surgical assisting) to patients with gynecologic cancer conditions, allowing the PA to work to their full scope of practice. Description:

This position is based within a collegial team of Gynecologic Oncologists, Monday to Friday, 9 AM–5 PM. The PA will support women’s health by assessing patients, creating and communicating care plans, performing consultations and follow-up (in-person and virtual) in clinic, wards and Emergency Room, rounding on inpatients post-operatively, and assisting in the Operating Room for gynecologic oncology surgeries. Additional responsibilities include teaching medical students, residents, and PA learners. The PA is expected to maintain ongoing professional education to meet CAPA and patient care requirements, foster strong working relationships with all team members, and, in exceptional circumstances, provide additional services under physician supervision within their clinical competence. All work is to be carried out in alignment with AHS policies and procedures.
