Required Qualifications:

Completion of Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy. Active or eligible for registration with the Alberta College of Pharmacy (ACP).

Additional Required Qualifications:

Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy required from a recognized institution. Licensed of eligibility for licensure with Alberta College of Pharmacists (ACP). Advanced Prescribing Authority (APA) is required (for new practitioners; must obtain within one (1) year). Recent direct patient care experience preferred (at least 1 year within the last 3 years). Fluency in the English language (both written and verbal). Demonstrates computer literacy for drug information and word processing. Demonstrates ability to use evidence based medicine in direct patient care. Demonstrates self-directed learning and continuing education. Capable of making decisions and working independently. Demonstrates good time management including ability to switch priorities and multitask. Demonstrates excellent communication and interpersonal skills, good organizational and problem-solving skills. Self-motivated; able to work both independently and cooperatively in a team environment. Working to full scope of practice including but not limited to, APA, laboratory ordering and authorization to administer injections. Experience with computer medication order entry, IV admixture and unit dose drug distribution an asset Experience with Windows based computer applications an asset. Project experience and committee work an asset. Member of voluntary professional organization an asset. Active membership in the Canadian Society of Hospital Pharmacists (CSHP) is recommended.

Preferred Qualifications:

2-5 years recent experience within hospital pharmacy preferred. 2-5 years experience with pharmacy computer order entry system preferred. 2-5 years’ experience with unit dose drug distribution preferred. Clinical experience preferred. Recent experience as a member of a multidisciplinary health care team preferred. Hospital pharmacy residence and/or prior hospital experience preferred. Experience in pediatric/oncology/neonatal drug therapy preferred.
