Licensed Practical Nurse - Operating Room Technician

As a Licensed Practical Nurse Operating Room Technician (LPN ORT), you will provide a wide variety of nursing services to patients, families, communities and populations, while taking necessary steps to ensure their safety and well-being. In your role, you will utilize nursing processes, through critical thinking, problem solving and decision making, as well as teach, counsel and advocate on behalf of patients and their families. You will play a leadership role in supporting an integrated and holistic approach to patient care, health promotion and maintenance. You will provide safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of AHS and the pillars of South Health Campus. An exciting opportunity for an experienced nurse to join team here at South Health Campus Surgical Suites and Minor Surgery Clinic. With several different specialties including General Surgery, Orthopedics, Plastics, Gynecology, ENT and Sports Medicine we adhere to our sites’ four key pillars of Wellness, Collaboration, Innovation and Patient and Family Centered Care. You will work as part of a multi-disciplinary team to provide peri-operative care to patients in both the circulation and scrub roles.

Completion of an accredited Licensed Practical Nurse education program. Active, or eligible for, registration and a practice permit as a Licensed Practical Nurse with the College of Licensed Practical Nurses and Health Care Aides of Alberta (CLHA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP).
Additional Required Qualifications:Post-Grad Perioperative Certification required. OR Completion of a CLPNA approved perioperative course. Current experience in an urban acute care OR required. Ability to perform consistently in a highly organized, rapid moving, complex environment. Ability to collaborate within the expectations of a highly complex integrated team. Demonstrated advanced problem solving skills integrating critical thinking and good judgment. Ability to stand scrubbed for many hours and to meet the physical demands of the position. Ability to wear lead apron protection and PPE for extended periods of time as required. Flexibility to rotate through all surgical specialties, work shifts and be available for call as needed.
Preferred Qualifications:Minimum 2 years' experience preferred. Experience with Connect Care - Optime. Recent SHC OR experience preferred.
