Your Opportunity:

This posting will cover a one year maternity leave period, and offers a rare opportunity for a strong lead analyst to work directly with clinical and operational leaders within the Department of Clinical Neurosciences (DCNS) in the Calgary Corridor. This role is designed specifically to leverage being embedded within a dedicated clinical team. Through meaningful collaboration, the Lead Analyst will help the DCNS with analytics that answer pressing questions related to clinical and operational care delivery. This position lives in the Health Shared Services organization, in the Data & Analytics portfolio.

Description:

The Lead Analyst is able to support the analytic needs of the department from inception through to deliverable, including: Understanding the objectives and building or finalizing the overall measurement framework and metrics, developing process maps that represent how data is captured in our clinical information system, locating and querying and investigating data, and building and delivering final dashboards, reports etc. The Lead Analyst develops and implements creative, advanced analytic approaches to address complex questions, often where no precedent has been set. They are highly skilled in organizing and presenting complex information to stakeholders with analytic experience ranging from minimal to extensive, and tailoring their communication to meet the needs of the decision maker, from front-line managers to senior executives or external audiences (government, universities, etc.). They excel in translating business and clinical objectives into how measurement and analytics can be used to deliver insight and support more effective and evidence-informed decisions. The Lead Analyst will build collaborative relationships with the DCNS and will help evolve the approach for using measurement within the department for continuous quality improvement. The Lead Analyst’s priorities and work content will be directed by the DCNS; they will report to the Program Manager of Calgary Analytics and Reporting. This will ensure meaningful collaboration with both the clinical program, and the analytics community.

Required Qualifications:

Five years' experience in the following areas: Working with spreadsheets, databases and tools for querying, transforming, integrating, analyzing, interpreting, reporting and disseminating data. Oracle SQL, Snowflake SQL/Python or other comparable database query and report writing. Knowledge and ability to produce a variety of descriptive, inferential and predictive statistics. Applied statistics, including experimental design, sampling rates, confidence intervals, regression models, etc. Statistical analyses of complex and large datasets, including segmentation, advanced multivariate and longitudinal modeling, and forecasting. Managing multiple concurrent projects and meeting deadlines. Proficiency in Tableau or other visualization tools.

Additional Required Qualifications:

Proficiency in R, SAS or comparable statistical methodological tools. Proficiency in English, with excellent communication skills and ability to interact with clients by presenting complex modeling analyses, methods and findings in business- and user-friendly language. Demonstrated ability to work with others effectively in teams. Demonstrated aptitude for educating, motivating, and influencing. Comprehensive understanding of health systems. Working knowledge of Microsoft Office suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Visio and Access) and the ability to become proficient with new software packages. Must abide by the highest standards of confidentiality and have a sound understanding of the principles within Alberta’s Health Information Act (HIA), Access to Information Act (ATIA), and Protection of Privacy Act (POPA).

Preferred Qualifications:

Completed certification/ proficiency in Cogito/Connect Care (Cogito Fundamentals, Clarity, Caboodle and the Access or Clinical Data Models) would be a large asset.
