Required Qualifications:

Completion of Grade 12 or equivalent.

Additional Required Qualifications:

Accredited Medical Terminology course (i.e.) Bow Valley, SAIT, MRU – test will be administered. Accurate data entry/keyboarding skills – test will be administered with pass of 40 wpm. Experience in a health care medical office setting or a recent graduate of a medical office assistant, unit clerk specialty and/or post-secondary education applicable to the position. Ability to lift up to 50 pounds. Must be able to tolerate repetitive work for long periods of time. Must be physically able to sit and stand for long periods of time. Excellent English language skills in reading, writing and oral communication. Ability to prioritize, multitask and work under constant interruption and high stress situations. Ability to work well within a team and with minimal supervision. Ability to operate basic office equipment including fax, personal computer and multifunction copier. Proficiency in basic computer skills and Windows operating system including Microsoft applications. Prior customer service in a health care setting. Ability to adhere to strict AHS policies & procedures and legislated requirements regarding client confidentiality.

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience using HIM-based applications (i.e. Clinibase, File Tracker Pro, Metahealth , TAB Fusion, Meditech, eMon, SCM, Skype, Netcare, Person Directory, EMPI, Paris, CPN). Clinibase profile lead access experience. Experience in multi-patient reception functions. Experience with terminal digit filing system. Ability to foster positive interpersonal and communication skills with internal and external stakeholders.
