Undergraduate Nursing Employees

If you’re currently enrolled in a Registered Nurse or Registered Psychiatric Nurse program, working as an Undergraduate Nursing Employee (UNE) is a great way to gain clinical experience and strengthen your nursing skills!

To work as an Undergraduate Nursing Employee (UNE), you must be/have:

  • Currently enrolled in an accredited Registered Nurse or Registered Psychiatric Nurse program at a recognized post-secondary institution.
  • Completed a minimum of 450 clinical hours of practice, with supporting documentation from your Faculty of Nursing
  • Heart & Stroke Foundation BLS (Level C) Healthcare Provider certification.

New graduates must hold or be eligible for registration with one of the regulatory bodies below.

Health care aides

We’re seeking nursing students and certified health care aides with a passion for compassionate care. If this sounds like you, please take a look at the requirements below and apply today!

Nursing students

  • must be enrolled in an accredited nursing program and have successfully completed one of these:
    • 1st year of a practical nursing program, or
    • 2nd year of a baccalaureate nursing program, or 
    • 2nd year of a baccalaureate psychiatric nursing program; and
  • Completed a continuing care or medicine unit placement
  • Have knowledge and experience with medication assistance
  • Must be actively enrolled or eligible for enrolment on the Alberta HCA Directory

Health care aides

  • Must have completed a recognized HCA certificate program and are actively enrolled or eligible for enrolment on the Alberta HCA Directory.
